Ian Holloway is the key for Swindon Town's promotion bid

After a long week of discussing whether Ian Holloway had the right strategy to get the most out of the Swindon Town squad, he produced when it mattered against Chesterfield.

Saturday’s victory at the SMH Group Stadium was possibly the most important of the season so far. Coming back with all three points from the home of a legitimate promotion rival for the first time this season was a statement. It was not the most thrilling footballing display they have put on, but it was full of guts and showed this team can still turn a game on its head, as they did so well last season.

For a while, it looked like it could be very different. For 35 or 40 minutes, Chesterfield looked, by a distance, the best team that Swindon have faced this season. Whilst Finley Munroe got the ball rolling with a crashing header, the Spireites answered back and then kept going. Their attacking play was full of invention, with Dilan Markanday, Liam Mandeville, and Dylan Duffy interchanging positions and making life very difficult with the overloads they were creating in different areas of the pitch.
