A man drowned in the Modesto Reservoir on Saturday morning, setting an inauspicious record for Stanislaus County.

“This latest occurrence makes the tenth drowning this year, surpassing the previous annual record of eight drownings,” the county sheriff’s office said in a statement. “With three and a half months remaining in the year, we are deeply concerned about this alarming trend.”
