Underconsumption Core: Just Another Fad?

Underconsumption core has been described as the minimalist trend of 2024, and indeed much has been written about it over the last 12 months. Instagram and TikTok are full of postings encouraging people to buy less.

For anyone who has not come across it, underconsumption core is when people make use of what they already own and avoid buying in to new trends, with an aim to have a sustainable mindset. This may involve purchasing second-hand clothes, repurposing clothes you already have, or finishing a mascara before buying a new one. Put simply, it is a challenge for what many are accustomed to, the often-excessive culture of consumption.

As humans consume too much, it is key to look at consumption to help with the climate and ecological crisis that is facing the world. With the world consuming over 100 billion tonnes of materials a year, from a planetary health perspective, the idea of........
