LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Monday evening/night and Tuesday.

As per the synoptic situation, a strong westerly wave prevails over upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist during the next 24 to 36 hours.

Under these conditions, more rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms are predicted in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Noor Purr Thal on Monday night and Tuesday. Heavy falls may cause landslides in Murree and Gallat. Gusty winds are expected in other districts of the province. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may affect human lives, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 37-39 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred Lahore and parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Hailstorm also occurred at few places in Potohar region, Islamabad, Murree and Galyat.

Rainfall (mm): Jhelum 38, Murree 31, Mandi Bahauddin, Mangla 26, Gujranwala 20, Sialkot (Airport 12, City 04), Attock 08, Chakwal 06, Joharabad 05, Islamabad (Airport 03, Zero Point 02, Bokra, Golra 01), Rawalpindi (Kacheri 03, Chaklala 02, Shamsabad 02), Hafizabad 02, Sheikhupura, Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, Narowal 01

Sahiwal and Bahawalpur remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 36 C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 35 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 69 per cent.
