ISLAMABAD – Holy cities of Mecca and Madina saw huge influx of Umrah pilgrims during Holy Month of Ramadan as Muslims choose to perform pilgrimage to earn most blessings associated with the sacred time of the year.

Data shared by Saudi authorities revealed that over 5 million pilgrims visited Masjid e Nabwi in the first week of Ramadan.

To deal with massive visitors, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah rolled out a new Umrah policy for the month of Ramadan.

Under the fresh guidelines, pilgrims will only be allowed to perform a single Umrah in the month. The stern move aims to mitigate massive rush and ensure a safer pilgrimage experience for people who traveled to holy land from Pakistan and parts of the world.

The new policy will be enforced using Nusuk, a state-run platform for processing Umrah permits online.

The people will only allow the single permit to apply to perform Umrah. Limiting the number of pilgrimages per person aims to ensure that the opportunity for spiritual fulfillment is more evenly shared among all pilgrims.
