Pakistan captain Babar Azam has set several new records in the shortest format during the recently concluded T20I series against Ireland.

After losing the first T20I on the penultimate ball of the match, Pakistan won the last two encounters with convincing margins to clinch the series 2-1.

In the third T20I, Babar Azam became the first Pakistani batter to score 25 runs in an over in the shortest format. He hit four sixes and took a single while playing a dot ball against Benjamin White. Prior to this match, Asif Ali made 24 runs in an over by sending four balls out of the park in a match against Afghanistan. Aamir Jamal, Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Rizwan are the other batters who made 24 runs in an over.

Green Shirts skipper also surpassed India’s Virat Kohli in scoring 50 or more scores on most occasions. He has so far scored 50 runs or more on 39 occasions. Virat has scored 50 or more runs on 38 occasions.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan stitched 139-run partnership in the final T20I against Ireland. This is Babar’s 17th century partnership, the most for a player in T20I history. Mohammad Rizwan is now involved in century partnerships on 13 occasions.

Ever reliable duo has now involved in century partnerships for 13 times, the highest for two players in T20I format. They also became the first pair to score 3,000 runs in partnerships.
