Emergency lane closures to be removed as thousands travel to Carrow Road

The lane closures were put in place on March 26 on Martineau Lane and Bracondale after a member of the public reported a strong smell of gas.

For the past two weeks, Cadnet engineers have been on site carrying out major repair works.

A spokesman for Cadent said: “Work in Bracondale, Norwich, is still ongoing due to the complexity of gas escape and the repair needed.

“We always aim to complete emergency repairs as promptly as possible, but we are also aware that Bracondale is a main route for football fans attending the East Anglian derby on Saturday.

“If we have not completed our work by Friday, we will be looking to reinstate the road so that it can be fully opened ahead of the game."

After the Norwich City game against Ipswich Town, which kicks off at 12.30pm, emergency lane closures will be back in place to complete the work from Sunday.

A spokesman for Cadent added: “We’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while this repair takes place."
