The force was made aware of the letters being displayed in Clabon Road, Norwich, on Friday.

The letters featured a police logo, a false crime reference number and were signed off by an officer who is not employed by the constabulary.

They claimed there were "sexual predators" living in the area and urged locals to report any suspicious behaviour.

The letters were removed by officers and Norwich Police issued a statement which said: "We have been made aware of letters being displayed earlier today on Clabon Road, Norwich, which claim to be from the police.
