Carers hailed for 'exceptional' work re-building confidence of vulnerable people
Carers at Hurst House “champion the best interests” of people living at the New Costessey site, inspectors from the Care Quality Commission have stated.
The eight-bedroom home in Grove Avenue was rated ‘outstanding’ overall in its first inspection in January.
Hazel Roberts, CQC deputy director of adult social care in the East of England, said: “It is a remarkable achievement.

"The rating reflects the dedication and hard work of everyone at the home.
“We found compassionate and highly skilled leaders who placed people at the centre of everything they do.
“Staff also supported people to build independence and pursue meaningful goals.
“One person regained the confidence to leave their home after 18 months and now takes part in a range of community activities.
“All of the staff at Hurst House should be really proud of the exceptional care they delivered.

“Other services should look at this report as an example of outstanding practice to support people to lead their best lives.”
A family member of someone who lives at the home added to the glowing report that they are “always eager to return home after visits”.
Staff have supported people to build practical life skills such as using public transport.
One person learnt to plan a journey, buy a ticket and navigate their route independently.
The service employed dedicated education and wellbeing staff, who supported people to keep personal learning journals to track their achievements and share with their families.
