Two-storey home set to be built near city marshes

Amudhan Govindarajulu, the applicant, will be able to build a four-bedroom home, with a garden at the front and the back on Waring Road near Bowthorpe.

In his plans, Mr Govindarajulu described the current site next to number 20, which is empty land, as ugly.

The proposals were put forward in 2022 before one neighbour raised concerns over them.

The neighbour said: "We are worried the bike storage and bin storage at the rear will cause noise and disturbance.

"A covered external area at rear appears to be designed for smoking outside, which will create a smell in our garden and there is no provision for on site parking.

"The overall size of the property seems disproportionate to the plot size and not in keeping with other nearby properties. There will insufficient garden for this property."

Mr Govindarajulu's house will be built a third of a mile away from Bowthorpe Marshes, which is 5.7-hectares of grassland owned by Norwich City Council.
