Instant messaging apps such as WhatsApp to work only with active SIMs
New Delhi: The Centre has issued directions to instant messaging services including WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram to continuously ensure the use of an active SIM card in the devices of users. The move is designed to prevent cyberfraud, as it is easy to replace the SIM of any unattended device, and while the original user can continue using online services including instant messaging app while a cybercriminal can siphon out money from bank accounts with OTPs and verifications being relayed to the device with the swapped SIM. All providers of instant messaging services in India have been directed to submit a compliance........
