Mohun Bagan banned from AFC competitions for two seasons, fined heavily

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing crisis in Indian football with uncertainty surrounding the start of the domestic season, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, one of India’s top clubs, have been dealt a huge blow. Mohun Bagan have been suspended by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and barred from taking part in continental competitions for the next two seasons. AFC has also imposed heavy fines to the tune of USD 100,729 on the ISL giants.

Mohun Bagan have been banned from AFC competitions after refusing to travel to Iran for their AFC Champions League Two clash against Sepahan SC earlier this year. Mohun Bagan decided against travelling to Iran for their group-stage clash against Sepahan SC, citing security concerns.
