Law enforcement has taken down another dangerous gang — this time, seven members of a South American gang that is part of a burglary ring targeting local residents.
The gangsters would smash windows and break into homes to steal whatever they could — often with residents still inside, including children.
We have seen high-profile busts by federal law enforcement. But this was a local takedown, carried out by the LAPD and the LA County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).
District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced the arrests Wednesday, describing the gang and its tactics, as well as how law enforcement caught and broke the ring.
Hochman, playing it straight, said that there was nothing “political” about the bust, even though it comes as California voters are filling out their ballots and heading to the polls.
But the truth is that politics played a role.
Two years ago, LA County was stuck with DA George Gascón, a left-wing radical who put “criminal justice reform”........
