Flagrant death threats by pro-Palestinian protesters like those at Eaton Centre undermine the security of all Canadians

This week, Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw informed the police board that antisemitic incidents in the city have surged by 211 per cent since the onset of Hamas’s war on Israel. This alarming increase, constituting 53 per cent of all reported hate crimes since the Oct. 7 massacre, is utterly intolerable.

Addressing this issue requires a decisive approach to eradicate antisemitism, with the law serving as the primary tool. I am pleased to note that the Toronto Police Service’s Hate Crime Unit has already made 43 arrests and laid 96 charges, signalling a commitment to combating this disturbing trend.
