Nobody visits a pick and mix stall expecting it to be cheap, but everyone deserves a treat now and then.

That's why, during a trip to Manchester Christmas Markets at the weekend, I allowed my daughter to get a selection of the goodies on offer at the Kingdom of Sweets stall.

There's one at the bottom end of Market Street, but it was the one at the top end, close to the stall we'd eaten at in Piccadilly Gardens, that we stopped off at.

I kept a close eye on what she was putting inside the bag, as I'm all too aware of how the price can quickly mount up.
