Rad Power Bikes filed for bankruptcy protection on Monday, December 15 ahead of selling itself. It also appointed former CFO Angelina Smith as its fourth CEO since 2022. 

Rad Power is considered the pioneer of e-bike popularity since its formal launch in 2015. In October 2021 it announced a financing round of $154 million, bringing its investments to $329 million. It was valued at $1.65 billion and called itself the largest e-bike seller in North America,
