An ally of Donald Trump has claimed the president’s number one priority is resolving the Ukraine-Russia war.

If accurate, the remark will dampen threats from the White House that the whole administration could walk away from the negotiation process unless Ukraine complies.

Trump’s leaked 28-point plan required major capitulation from the beleaguered country – including rewarding Russia’s aggression with yet more of Ukraine’s land.
