Russia's President Vladimir Putin has come up with a new playground insult for European leaders – his strongest verbal attack for the continent yet.

Vladimir Putin has condemned European leaders as “little pigs” in a furious speech which hardly welcomes the idea of ending the war in Ukraine.

His attack came shortly after US president Donald Trump claimed peace in Ukraine was “closer than ever” amid America’s latest push to conclude the conflict by any means possible.

European leaders, on the other hand, are trying to make sure any peace agreement does not reward Russia for its aggression and maintains Ukraine’s sovereignty.

Speaking at a defence meeting with officials in Moscow on Wednesday, the Russian leader immediately started blaming Europe for his own invasion of Ukraine back in February 2022.
