1. The £5 Million Gift
The Guardian reported in May that Farage received a £5 million donation from Thai-based crypto-billionaire, Christopher Harborne, shortly before he became an MP in 2024.
Parliamentary rules state that new MPs must register any gifts worth more than £300 they received in the previous 12 months, except where the gift “could not be reasonably thought by others” to relate to their political activities.
However, Farage did not declare the lump sum to parliament and initially insisted that the money was for his own security.
He later called it a reward for Brexit campaigning before telling the media in a series of bad-tempered interviews that it was “none of your business” what he spent the money on – and that he could spend it on “Ferraris” if he wanted.
