Mariah Carey Addresses Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Snub: 'Who Cares!'

The music icon is clearly not losing any sleep over missing out on the Hall Of Fame accolade.

If any Mariah Carey fans were concerned she might have taken not being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this year personally – breathe easy, knowing she’s evidently not giving it too much thought.

For the third year in a row, the Grammy winner’s was passed over in the Hall Of Fame voting, which many music fans have been quick to voice their upset about given Mariah’s chart success, songwriting abilities and, of course, powerhouse vocals.

However, in a new video shared by TMZ, the music icon made it clear that missing out on the distinction isn’t something she’s losing any sleep over.

Asked if she “cares” about being overlooked by the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame once again, the We Belong Together singer responded simply: “No!”

When it was put to her that many of her fans were upset at the news, Mariah said that she “love[s her] fans, always”, but ultimately surmised: “Who cares? Like, give it to somebody else! Fantastic!”

Inductees to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for 2026 include Oasis, Phil Collins, Sade and the late Luther Vandross.

Over the course of her career, Mariah has racked up three UK number ones (and a whopping 19 across the pond), released 16 studio albums and picked up five Grammy awards.

In 2020, she was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, the same year as artists like Annie Lennox, The Isley Brothers and Pharrell Williams.

Last year, Mariah released her most recent album Here For It All – her first since 2018’s Caution – trailed by the singles Type Dangerous and the Kehlani and Shenseea collab Sugar Sweet.

To promote the album, she made a series of one-off musical appearances, including at the Capital Summertime Ball and a headlining slot at Brighton Pride.
