Kylie Minogue's XMAS is officially this year's Christmas number one

She’s only gone and done it – Kylie Minogue has nabbed this year’s Christmas number one with her festive hit XMAS.

Kylie’s accolade is significant for many reasons, not least that it’s the Australian pop superstar’s first UK number one in more than 20 years, having last topped the charts with her sultry Slow back in 2003, continuing the winning streak she’s been on since Padam Padam led to a huge musical renaissance two years ago.

It’s also the first time a fully new composition has topped the UK charts at Christmas since Ed Sheeran’s Perfect in 2017, with subsequent years seeing LadBaby triumphing with his festive parodies of existing songs, in aid of food bank charities.

Since LadBaby’s record-breaking run of four songs came to an end, Wham!’s Last Christmas then topped the festive chart in both 2023 and 2024, making history as the first song to achieve the feat two years running.
