The award-winning film director and actor Rob Reiner has been found dead at his home at the age of 78, alongside his wife, the musician Michele Singer.

In the early hours of Monday morning, TMZ was the first to report that Reiner and Singer had been found dead at a property owned by the filmmaker.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said it had responded to a medical aid request shortly after 3:30 pm on Sunday afternoon, and found a 78-year-old man and 68-year-old woman dead inside.
