A Reminder Of What Stranger Things' Creator Said About Multiple Endings Amid 'Conformity Gate' Frenzy
Stranger Things recently came to an end on Netflix after five seasons
Depending on where you fall on the debate, you may well have woken up on Wednesday expecting to see a shiny new episode of Stranger Things waiting for you on Netflix.
In the past week, hoards of fans around the world have fallen under the spell of a popular fan theory known as “Conformity Gate” which suggests that the events of the Stranger Things finale’s epilogue were, in fact, a fake reality created by Vecna, and that the real ending to the show would be revealed in a bonus episode released on 7 January.
Since the theory began to spiral in popularity on social media, those who believe in it were somewhat encouraged by the fact that Netflix and the show’s creators were remaining tight-lipped about the whole thing (HuffPost UK contacted the platform for comment on Tuesday but did not receive a response).
However, it’s probably worth pointing out that the Duffer Brothers previously dismissed the suggestion that “multiple endings” had been filmed as far back as November.
