To uphold the principals of “probity, accountability and public service”, Chief Secretary Atal Dullo administered the integrity pledge to the administrative secretaries and other officers at the civil secretariat. This was done to mark the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week.

It is good to see an emphasis on integrity; the customary practice of taking a pledge may also not be without a value. But the core question remains: how to root out corruption from the system?
