Opinion: Ceasing worry

Two valued readers weighed in last week on the matter of what I know as GodNods many experience throughout their lives. These mysterious events can come in different and deeply personal forms, which Steve Thomas learned several years ago when he was struggling very badly with his job.

"It was to the point where it was affecting my health and nerves. One evening at home while sitting in my recliner and reading "The Purpose Driven Life" by pastor Rick Warren I came to a statement that read, "when God's at the center, you worship. When he's not, you worry. Worry is the warning light that God has been shoved to the sideline."

"I stopped reading immediately and prayed to let God move back to the center of my life and to stop worrying. A most peaceful, serene feeling then came over me, one that I can't explain.

The next day at precisely 10 a.m. I received a call from an acquaintance of mine asking if I would be interested in accepting a position at his place of business. Seventeen years later I retired from that new job and have been forever grateful. That's a GodNod I will never forget. Thanks."
