The victims of sex offences are granted life-long anonymity by the courts and anyone who reveals their identity can be fined up to £5,000.
Although an investigation was launched by police, a force spokesman said the case was now closed after all lines of enquiry were "exhausted".
"Following digital enquiries, no suspect could be identified as the original social media post, and associated meta data, is no longer available," said the spokesman.
But the spokesman urged anyone with "information about who may be responsible for the post" to contact police.
