Concerns raised over security at Norwich prison

The Independent Monitoring Board (IMB), which observes conditions in detention centres, has raised concerns over safety and security at the site.

Some of the main findings from the IMB's annual report, published in October, highlight violence against prisoners and staff.

Concerns were also raised over alcohol and drug use as prohibited items are reportedly getting into the prison due to weak security.

The report says: "The lack of monitored perimeter cameras and other security devices has enabled drugs and electronic devices to enter the prison over the walls."

The IMB sends public volunteers from the local communities where institutions are located to assess them.
