Revealed: the cheapest places to park in Norwich city centre
Norwich drivers should look beyond the big multi‑storeys as council‑run surface car parks continue to offer some of the cheapest city centre parking in 2026.
Locations such as Rouen Road, Barn Road, St Crispins and Westwick Street are among the cheapest locations for drivers.
Daytime tariffs at these car parks start at £2.30 for up to one hour, with two hours typically costing £3.30.
Drivers staying longer also benefit with a stay of over five hours, coming in at £7.60 or less, at Barn Road and Westwick Street, making them among the best‑value options for all‑day parking within walking distance of the market and main shopping streets.
Rouen Road and St Crispins car parks are slightly cheaper still for an all‑day stay, capped at £7.30.
Though almost ten years ago in 2017 it cost drivers only £5.90 to park for eight hours at Rouen Road.
By contrast, Riverside multi‑storey charges £3 for up to two hours and £22 for more than five hours.
Privately operated sites, such as NCP's St Stephens Street car park by Chantry Place, tend to sit at the higher end of the price range.
At St Stephen's, it costs £2.50 to park for an hour and then £14 for five hours or more, although drivers arriving before 9am can get an early bird rate.
Last month the 95-year-old company fell into administration, putting car parks across the county at risk, with 22 now closed across the country.
The only downside to many of the cheaper sites is the lack of space, with Rouen Road only having 187 spaces.
This is compared to Castle Quarter's 790 spaces across both of its car parks, which are very central and provide easy access for shopping and entertainment.
