Alex Militaru, 25, of High Street, Watton, was sentenced to two years and five months in prison for his part in the conspiracy.

The operation saw a group of Romanian nationals carry out a series of late-night raids at more than 50 locations between February and December 2024.

The gang, who operated under the name "F*** The Police", used sophisticated digital equipment to manipulate ATMs to steal hundreds of thousands of pounds in cash.

More than 3,300 fraudulent transactions were carried out.

An investigation by the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) traced the group to a base of operations in Luton.

The gang also had links to Bacau in Romania.

Initial arrests took place in December 2024 after officers intercepted members of the group attempting to flee via Luton Airport.

Investigators later seized computer components designed to hack ATM systems.

Further operations in July 2025 targeted addresses in Romania, leading to more arrests and the recovery of luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini and a Porsche.

Officers also discovered the gang’s "FTP" initials carved into a fortified property and emblazoned across a swimming pool.

Militaru was among nine men convicted of conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to launder money.

Sentences ranged from 18 months to four and a half years.

Detective Inspector Dan Barker from ERSOU said: "This was a persistent and coordinated network.

"Their actions caused significant financial harm, but our work has dismantled their operation."
