Once one of England’s most important ports, where merchants traded across Europe and ships crowded the quays, its story stretches back centuries.

Today, a bold regeneration vision aims to bring that energy back - but visitors do not need to wait 20 years to see why the town is already worth their time.

Much of what makes King’s Lynn special is already here, hiding in plain sight.

Here are just some reasons to visit.

Wander from the Tuesday Market Place down towards the River Great Ouse and it quickly becomes clear why architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner was so taken with the town.

The route is lined with some of the finest buildings in the country, culminating at the Custom House, a 17th-century landmark once described as “one of the most perfect buildings ever built”.
