An inquest into the death of Peter Pocket, 68, of Pit Road, Hemsby, took place at Norfolk Coroners’ Court this month.

It heard Mr Pocket, who was born in Zimbabwe on December 9, 1955, had a complex medical history, including diabetes, and was taking several medications for ongoing health conditions.

In February 2024 he developed cholecystitis – an inflammation of the gallbladder – and was admitted to hospital.

Although he was discharged, doctors recommended he undergo gallbladder removal as soon as it was safe to do so. By August, he was considered well enough for surgery.
