Hospital enforces action after patient's overdose death sparked serious warning
Bosses at the James Paget Hospital wrote to area coroner Yvonne Blake outlining a series of changes implemented since the death of Susan Young.
The 63-year-old, of Caister, died at the Gorleston hospital in August 2024 after being admitted having taken an overdose of prescribed medication.
She was initially treated at the hospital’s emergency department and monitored appropriately.

But after being transferred onto a ward, her monitoring did not continue, and staff were not warned of the risk of cardiac arrhythmias as a side effect of the medication.
Miss Young died on August 23 last year after nursing staff found her unresponsive in her bed.
At an inquest earlier this year, Mrs Blake warned there had been no clinical handover and no instructions passed........
