Alice MacDonald, MP for Norwich North, says she wants action from Norfolk County Council and developers of White House Farm in Sprowston following complaints from neighbours that Atlantic Avenue, an unadopted road, has not been gritted.

Ms Macdonald said: "Residents have told me how dangerous this is. I have been raising the need for adoption and the risk of ungritted roads over the past few months.

"I wrote again yesterday to the council and Persimmon Homes demanding urgent action to get the road gritted."

But Norfolk County Council, which grits roads across the region, says it can only bring the road under its responsibility once the developers submit outstanding technical information.

A spokesman for Norfolk County Council said: "Atlantic Avenue is not yet an adopted road and therefore remains the responsibility of the developer, including winter gritting.
