It’s that time of the year when most of us want to do something different than our siblings, or plan something special for the sweetest and closest person in the world — our mother.

Yes, tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and if you’re panicking today about what to present to your mother and how to do it, don’t worry. I have crafted something perfect for the occasion: a cute heart she can place anywhere she can see.

Things you need:

A 7 inches long, 4 inches wide piece of cardboard

Pink coloured paper (colour choice optional)

Pink crape paper (colour choice optional)

One wooden stick (you can use BBQ skewer)

Small box (square, round or any shape)

Scissors

White glue

Hot glue

Glue stick

Pencil

Ruler

Directions:

Cut the cardboard into two equal squares, picture 2.

Then cut them into heart shapes, along with coloured paper of the same size. Paste the coloured paper on both cardboard hearts from only one side, pictures 3 and 4.

Cut the crepe paper into one-inch wide strips, then cut the strips into one-inch-wide pieces, pictures 5 and 6.

Take a piece of crepe paper and, with the help of the pencil’s rubber side (the bottom), twist the crepe paper and glue it onto the heart, picture 7.

Keep pasting the crepe paper pieces close to each other so that the heart is fully covered and becomes fluffy, picture 8.

Repeat step 4 and 5 on the other heart. This will take a little time, but it will look amazing, picture 9.

When you have covered both hearts, it’s time to trim the fluffy top and the sides to make it look even. Leave the hearts to dry; picture 10.

Cover the stick with either the coloured paper or crepe paper (whichever colour you like), picture 11.

Paste the stick with hot glue in between the backside of both hearts, pictures 12 and 13.

You can either use hardboard or a piece of foam sheet and roll it around the bottom of the stick so that you can stick it with hot glue inside the box, pictures 14 and 15.

Put the heart stick aside. It’s time to decorate the box. As I said earlier, you can use any shape of the box. So, cover it with either plain colour or use any patterned paper, picture 16.

Glue the heart stick in the middle of the box, picture 17.

Fill the box with confetti, or scraps you can cut from the crepe paper.

Put some sweet treats that your mother loves the most inside the box.

Write a Mother’s Day message or cut out small hearts and flowers and paste them on another stick, then cover it with a transparent plastic or piece of net, and insert it inside the box.

This heartfelt creation filled with love is sure to make your ‘Mother’s Day’ a memorable one.
