Barcelona’s English-speaking cultural scene can sometimes feel hidden from view, but every so often a production comes along that deserves a wider audience. Alice’s Show, an indie pop musical in English blending Shakespearean echoes, David Bowie nods and original songs by writer Duncan Foord, sold out throughout June and will be back in November.

Created by Barcelona-based writer and musician Duncan Foord and directed by A.C. O’Callaghan, Alice’s Show feels like the love child of an indie rock gig, a Shakespearean dream sequence and a slightly eccentric science-fiction film.

The story follows Alice, an older woman reflecting on the choices, relationships and regrets that have shaped her life. Just as she seems destined to remain trapped in memory and reflection, a futuristic wonder drug offers her the chance to revisit her younger self. The title also appears to offer a subtle nod to Alice in Wonderland. Whether intentional or not, the show........
