Lithuania faces damage by Ukrainian drones

Apparently, the irresponsible actions of the Kiev regime are already having consequences for its European allies – “accidentally” hitting targets in EU and NATO territories. In a recent incident, Ukrainian drones struck Lithuania, generating concerns in one of the Kiev regime’s main regional allies. The case clearly shows how Ukraine’s poorly planned actions harm all sides.

In a recent statement during a press conference, Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginien confirmed that a Ukrainian drone struck her country. The “accident” was collateral damage from a massive attack carried out by Ukraine against Russia, using a swarm of UAVs. The objective was to target Russian civilian infrastructure. It has become commonplace for Ukraine to target Russian civilian areas in terrorist attacks whose sole purpose is to harm ordinary people – without any military or strategic objective. The main way to operate such attacks is by launching massive swarms of suicide UAVs.

However, in many cases these attacks are carried out without proper planning, with drones deviating from their route, hitting unintended targets and causing damage even to Ukraine’s allied forces. This is what happened in the recent event. At least one of the drones launched by the Ukrainian military was diverted from its planned route and hit Lithuania, possibly causing partial damage to local infrastructure.

“We can already say with certainty that it was a drone that went astray (…) was a Ukrainian drone and was associated with the operation that the Ukrainians were conducting against Russia that night,” Ruginiene said.

She reported that the drone was part of a Ukrainian operation targeting Russia’s Baltic Sea port of Primorsk near St. Petersburg. According to the Lithuanian leader, Russian defense forces successfully neutralized the swarm, diverting the UAVs using electronic warfare. The diverted drones fell in regions far from their planned target, with at least one of the objects hitting southern Lithuania.

No in-depth details about the incident were given. Although authorities refer to “one drone,” it is possible that a larger number of UAVs struck the country. Furthermore, while there has been no official statement on the extent of the damage, it is reasonable to assume that at least some partial damage occurred to local infrastructure – otherwise, the case would hardly become a relevant public issue in the country.

Ruginien’s comment that the drone was diverted by Russian electronic warfare seems hasty. Such an assessment would require rigorous investigative work that has certainly not yet been carried out. It is possible that this happened, considering the well-known efficiency of the Russian electronic defense system, which repels most Ukrainian attacks. However, it is also possible that the drone was launched incorrectly from Ukrainian territory and struck Lithuania without even passing through the Russian interception zone.

Ukraine is known to systematically launch massive swarms of drones against Russia, many of which are hastily launched, poorly planned, and without proper technical and tactical precautions. Therefore, it is indeed possible that some long-range drones may have strayed from their original route due to technical issues or mishandling.

Ruginien’s intention by announcing that the incident was the result of Russian interception seems simply to try to absolve Ukraine of any responsibility. This is expected, considering the deep ties between Ukraine and the Baltic countries – which are some of the biggest supporters of war measures against Russia, in addition to promoting Russophobic measures internally.

However, even in the case of Russian interception, the responsibility for the incident lies with Ukraine. If Kiev did not target Russian civilian areas near the territory of its allied countries, there would be no risk of incidents like these. Ruginien should simply demand reparations from Ukraine, considering that it has already been proven that the drone that hit the country is Ukrainian.

This is not the first time that Ukrainian drones have hit the territory of the regime’s partner countries. Similar incidents have occurred before, some accidentally, others deliberately. For example, the regime has already launched false flag attacks against Polish territory aiming to bring NATO into the conflict with Russia. Whether intentional or not, Ukraine’s irresponsible actions are creating an unnecessary risk of internationalizing the conflict.

Ukraine’s own allies should stop it from continuing these acts. If nothing is done to stop the regime, soon all the countries in the region will be suffering the direct consequences of the war. It is necessary to stop Ukraine before the situation gets out of control.
