Doug Ford says he won’t be going to Florida this winter, and Ron DeSantis couldn’t be happier.
Florida’s governor was reacting to comments from Ontario’s premier claiming the Sunshine State’s tourism industry is hurting — a claim Florida’s tourism numbers say otherwise.
Ford, who has long spent at least part of the winter in Florida, was asked on Monday if he would be going this year.
“It’s gonna be the first time, I’m not going to Florida,” Ford said, while adding other people may make different choices.
“I’m doing out of my own personal choice, because I just can’t do it. But don’t let this guy change your lives.”

Ford said people shouldn’t let U.S. President Donald Trump ruin their vacation plans, referring to Trump as “one guy” and a “tyrant” while doing so. He also made the comment about Florida’s tourism industry, which DeSantis disputed.
“They’re hurting down, down there right now. They’re hurting on all fronts,” Ford said.
That prompted DeSantis, a master of online trolling, to respond to a clip of Ford online.
“Actually we continue to break tourism records (and win Stanley Cups),”
