Editorial: Voters should vote where they really live
New York's Hudson Valley is home to several congressional swing districts that could determine House control, and many voters are desperate to turn red seats blue.
As The New York Times recently reported, that's leading many owners of second homes to vote upstate instead of in the New York City districts where they primarily reside. One group, MoveIndigo, is even spearheading an effort to get second-home owners to shift their registration northward.
While we understand the impulse, the effort is ill-advised and violates the spirit of what elections should be about.
