Editorial: Honoring Oct. 7's victims

A year ago today, Hamas launched a series of terror attacks that left roughly 1,200 people dead — at a music festival, in kibbutzim and in other communities across southern Israel. Scores were taken as hostages, some of whom remain imprisoned by Hamas to this day. As we wrote just days after the attacks, this barbarity could not and must not be tolerated or justified. The distance of 12 months has done nothing to change that assessment or diminish the viciousness of the attacks.
In a very real sense, the Oct. 7 cross-border attack is grinding up new victims every day, in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. Some of them are combatants who are members of Hamas or Hezbollah, but it is impossible and immoral to look........
