It’s over. That imaginary tipping point beyond all comebacks for presidential candidate Joe Biden to pull it out yet again has passed. It’s not going to happen. Stalling, vainly hoping for the best while ignoring the looming worst, strong-arming loyalty out of those who see a need for change is not a strategy. It’s a Hail Mary pass. Desperation.
The news is only going to get worse for Joe. His only real chance to regain a modicum of his credibility, voiced by Bernie Sanders last week, was to come clean with the American people and let them see him as he is, with lots of unscripted moments, off the teleprompter, impromptu reveals. Humanize the man. A huge risk, to be sure, and a long shot. So far, the exact opposite is happening. His handlers are doubling down on keeping Joe away from the unscripted, the media and any but carefully choreographed moments. A virtual admission that he can’t be trusted.
