LeBrun: Burning questions on New York's Climate Act

It’s no surprise anymore that the consequences of global warming are hitting us worldwide and right here at home faster and harder than we were led to expect by even the most pessimistic of scientists.

Where would we have been without our air conditioners this summer? And we didn’t even have the worst of it in this country, nor will any of this likely get any better any time soon. Quite the opposite, actually. The mind boggles.

According to one learned prediction from the New York energy production world, in a mere seven and a half years, upstate New York could begin experiencing electrical energy shortfalls, due to projected increases in energy needs by industry. Plus, additional big-energy users like crypto mines and chip fab makers will come into play. Not surprising since we are headed toward an electrified world, by choice or by mandate, as the global answer to the climate change crisis that looms.

At the same time, we are doing our level best to reduce our dependency on polluting fossil fuels contributing to our erratic weather. Offending fuels that are unfortunately readily available, cheap and good energy producers, and to this day remain a major source of our energy. Finding comparable non-polluting........
