Charlena Keels stands outside her home on Eighth Street in Troy.

I traveled to Eighth Street in Troy several weeks ago to speak with Charleena Keels so I could write about how she'd been attacked by teens who beat her and stole her car.

It was a nice day, so Keels and I talked outside by her front stoop. But every few minutes or so, our conversation was interrupted by cars zooming up the one-way street. Wow, I said, the speeding here is unbelievable.

"Isn't it terrible?" Keels said. "It's always like this."

Police said the teenage girl, who was seriously injured but survived the crash, was partially at fault because she was in the roadway. The driver was ticketed for speeding.
