Churchill: David Soares should go for it

ALBANY — We haven't heard much from David Soares since primary day. Notably, he has yet to concede to Lee Kindlon.
There's a reason for that: The broader race may not be over. Indeed, a source close to Soares says the longtime Albany County district attorney is strongly considering a write-in campaign for the November election with Kindlon and Republican Ralph Ambrosio on the ballot.
You guys know how Albany County general elections normally go. The Democrat almost always wins, so much so that the primary is the only contest that matters. Soares lost that one decisively.

Kindlon, carried by strength in Bethlehem, won about 55 percent of the overall vote. Given the margin, Soares' refusal to concede or give up could be construed as sour grapes, petulance, even hubris. Kindlon says he has not heard from Soares.
The strongest argument for continuing the fight, though, is that a low-turnout election hardly represents the wishes and desires of the full Democratic Party, much less a broader electorate that includes Republicans and independents perhaps more inclined to back the DA first elected in 2004.
