Troy, New York is an honorary member of Baseball’s National League.
Origins of the sport of baseball in the mid-1840s is given to the New York Knickerbocker Baseball Club in New York City. They created much of what modern baseball looks like — the Diamond field, three strikes you’re out, the balk, foul lines, and runners needing to be tagged or thrown out. Baseball fever got a hold in the Capital District and especially Troy.
