The Nuclear Future

As Japan takes the final steps toward allowing the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant in the region of Niigata, the memory of the Fukushima disaster continues to loom large. Fifteen years on, its legacy still shapes global attitudes toward nuclear energy. As humanity advances deeper into the technological revolution of the 21st century, our approach to nuclear power must strike a careful balance. It must be guided by caution and responsibility, but also by courage and innovation, so that the full benefits of the technology can be realised without being paralysed by fear.
