New York man suing ICE for sending officers to home after critical email

A New York man sued U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after federal officers came into his home to warn him about an email he sent to the agency’s former acting director, Todd Lyons.

David Streever, a Rochester resident and U.S. citizen, wrote a scathing email to Lyons in January, angered over the killings of two Americans by ICE officers during the immigration crackdown in Minneapolis.

In a three-paragraph email, Streever called Lyons a “monstrous human being” and “America’s Reinhard Heydrich, the butcher,” referencing a high-ranking police official in Nazi Germany.

“The way you are protecting the obvious execution in Minnesota, even as we see the videos, will lead to your downfall,” he wrote in the email, according to a lawsuit filed Monday in federal court.
