There’s Nothing In The Least Bit Scary About A So-Called ‘Government Shutdown’

Speaker Mike Johnson’s pork-filled spending bill, which he tried to ram through before Christmas recess, is now dead in the House. The government may shut down Friday if no bill is passed, but despite the fear-mongering from media and swampy lawmakers, there is actually nothing that scary about a ‘shutdown.’

Conservative Republicans, President-Elect Donald Trump and government reformers such as Elon Musk launched a revolt against Johnson, who wanted to quickly pass his omnibus spending bill with a Christmas Continuing Resolution (CR) and keep the federal government funded until March 2025. Conservatives were quick to discover some odious provisions tucked inside the bill, including a pay raise for Congress and funding for the State Department’s alleged censorship and propaganda apparatus, the Global Engagement Center. The more I learn, the more obvious it becomes that this spending bill is a crime.
