Swindon Town and their maddening inconsistency persisted again as they were anything but exciting in their 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham Town.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water and declare Swindon, ‘so back,’ they went and turned in another of the performances that prevent everyone from getting carried away – which may or may not be a good thing, depending on how many times it happens again.

Last week saw two exciting performances and encouraging wins over League One opposition, but as we entered the back half of a challenging fortnight and the games Town actually want to win, they came unstuck. Possibly, it was because they played a less expansive team, or possibly because they just did not have the same vigour; it was a return to Earth with a thud.
