Miles of PCT, other famous LA area hikes burned in devastating Bridge Fire

The total devastation from a trio of recent Southern California wildfires is still being tallied, but an incomplete picture of what has been lost is starting to come into view. The Line, Airport and Bridge fires have collectively burned well over 100,000 acres of mostly forested public land while also destroying more than 120 homes and other structures. The Bridge Fire in particular accounts for more than half of that scarred acreage, much of it in urban-adjacent wilderness that is heavily used for recreation by millions of people who live in the greater Los Angeles Basin and Inland Empire.
Some of the area’s most well-known hikes and sights have been devastated by the Bridge Fire, now 49% contained, which stretches from Mount Baldy through the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and up to the edges of the mountain town of Wrightwood.
