Prospect SF Giants traded Patrick Bailey for shines in 1st start with new team

While the Giants may have had other priorities in trading catcher Patrick Bailey to the Guardians, the minor league pitcher they received in the move sure seems like he could be quite the prospect.

The Giants acquired Matt Wilkinson, a 6-foot-1-inch, 250-pound left-hander, along with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft in Saturday’s trade. According to several reports, Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey had grown frustrated with Bailey, who won two Gold Gloves but did not produce much of anything offensively.
